MORENO VALLEY, Calif. — The military pilots providing air security during Super Bowl 50 have a simple message for the greater public: “You watch the game. We’ll watch the skies.”
A California Air National Guard F-15 fighter jet will protect the airspace surrounding Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium, the site of Super Bowl 50 on Feb. 7. CBS Los Angeles reports the F-15’s objective is to make sure no unauthorized aircraft enters within a 10-mile radius of the stadium.
Air Force Reserve Tanker planes practiced refueling the F-15 in mid-air on Tuesday. The tankers will take off from March Air Reserve Base.
“Just like the football teams prepare, so do we,” said Major Andrew Scott.
