Fire-Lite Alarms by Honeywell has released its 2010 training schedule comprised of 100 accredited educational sessions taking place throughout the United States.
The company’s traditional two- and three-day courses covering fire alarm basics to hands-on installation and programming will be hosted free-of-charge.
Through its “Voice of the Customer” process, Fire-Lite learned great demand existed among users of nonproprietary systems for a more advanced fire alarm systems training. As a result, Fire-Lite has added a two-part workshop to this year’s schedule, offering experienced installers advanced programming and application instruction through online modules and instructor-led training.
“The advanced course moves much of the more simplistic reading material from our standard courses into an online prerequisite and replaces it with hands-on PC programming instruction and challenging applications exercises,” says Jeff Behuniak, director of training for Honeywell Fire Systems. “The result is a one-day, instructor-led course intended to help installers achieve a level of product knowledge never before offered by Fire-Lite.”
According to Tom Rosa, Fire-Lite’s senior technical trainer, demand for the advanced course is on the rise. “Although there’s a fee to help cover program development and operating expenses, registrations for this new course keep increasing,” he says. “The advanced course is one-of-a-kind. It teaches on systems you can buy over-the-counter and it’s open to any qualified installer.”
