Larry Neibauer, a long-standing fire alarm industry representative and past president and executive director of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA), died June 24. He was 68.

Neibauer had been in critical condition for several weeks before passing away. According to a June 1 newsletter posted by a Web site for engineering technicians, Neibauer had recently recovered from surgery and was not doing well.

Security Sales & Integration will provide additional information on Neibauer’s death and his contributions to the fire alarm industry on its Web site and in an upcoming issue.

The AFAA was formed in 1953 and is the only national trade association exclusively dedicated to representing the automatic fire detection and fire alarm systems industry. The membership is made up of all segments of industry—manufacturers, distributors, state/regional associations, users, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), engineers and others.
