A former alarm installer has pled guilty to being the “BTK killer” and in court admitted to 10 murders, calling them “projects.” On the day his trial was set to begin, Dennis Rader said he killed 10 people in the Wichita, Kan., area from 1974 to 1991. He faces 10 life terms in prison when he is sentenced in August.
According to the Kansas City Star, Rader made a 45-minute confession in court June 27 where he reportedly expressed no remorse for his crimes and matter-of-factly described each murder, telling how he had put together a “hit kit” for each planned murder.
Rader worked as an alarm technician for ADT’s Wichita branch between 1974 and 1988 when most of the murders took place. However, during his confession, Rader referred little to his alarm work and made little connection between it and the planning of his crimes. He did describe, however, posing as a telephone repairman for one murder and using his knowledge of phone systems to knock out service before committing one of his killings.
