OLDSMAR, Fla. – Global Convergence Inc. (GCI) has acquired Radiant Networks, an enterprise mobility engineering company, to help its partners capitalize on a massive opportunity it sees for enterprise mobility.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Radiant Networks is a Louisville, Ky.-based mobile technology manufacturer, with particular expertise in design, implementation and services across a variety of industry verticals. In particular, it adds capabilities to the GCI lineup around wireless and mobility assessments, design, consulting, deployment, security and managed services.

The acquisition is part of a larger strategy by GCI to rapidly expand and bring specialist expertise in-house around mobility, security and the data center, according to the company. Prior to the acquisition GCI had been working with Radiant Networks for a few years as a specialist subcontractor.

The demand for mobility solutions and services within geographically dispersed large enterprises is being driven by a rapid expansion in mobile devices, the emerging Internet of Things (IoT), and requirements for increasing mobile security. GCI said it has extensive capabilities to provide both technology expertise and global coverage to partners in the mobility market.

Gartner, an IT research and advisory company, estimates that by 2017, 75% of mobile security breaches will be the result of mobile application misconfiguration. GCI partners can now utilize the expanded service offerings to address those concerns from their customers.

GCI is uniquely positioned to provide complete enterprise mobility solutions that encompass multiple vendors and multiple technologies across a distributed enterprise, according to Jim Bradshaw, CEO and chairman of the board of GCI.

“Only 25% of today’s solution providers are offering advanced enterprise mobility solutions like identity and asset management [IAM] systems, despite escalating regulatory and compliance requirements,” he says. “This creates a tremendous opportunity for our partners and we’re placing a heavy focus around the technologies, tools and services that will give them a competitive advantage.”
