General Electric Company’s GE Infrastructure division has
completed its acquisition of InVision Technologies Inc.
InVision supplies explosives detection systems for U.S.
civil aviation security. The two companies will create a
homeland protection platform using InVision’s products and
GE’s trace detection systems.

GE announced in March its plans to acquire InVision in a $900 million deal. The sale had been held up by a federal investigation into InVision’s finances. The company has been cleared after agreeing to an $800,000 fine.

“There is a growing global demand to accelerate the development and deployment of high-performance security technology that helps protect critical infrastructure,” says Bill Woodburn, GE Infrastructure president and CEO. Ken Boyda, president and CEO of GE Infrastructure, Security, adds, “Integrating trace detection, computed tomography and X-ray diffraction technologies into a single, dynamic business offering will accelerate our ability to bring new products and systems to market that make security applications more accurate and productive.”
