The Canadian Alarm and Security Association (CANASA) has
made GE Interlogix’s Allegro™ system its pick in the
burglary category of its 2003 Dealers’ Choice Awards,
presented at the Security Canada Central Show in Toronto on
Oct. 22.
RCI, of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, took top honors in the
access control category with its Series 6 electric strike,
while S.I.C. Biometrics, of Dorion, Quebec, Canada, was
awarded in the specialty products category for its Cougar
fingerprint identification system.
The Allegro is designed for apartments, condominiums and
smaller homes with a physical separation of the control
panel and telephone module, the Dialog™ Telephone Interface
Module (DTIM).
The DTIM is a battery-operated communication link between
the control panel and the central monitoring station. It
receives radio signals from the panel, then uses the phone
line to report security events to the central monitoring
station. If the Allegro panel is damaged during a break-in
or fire, the DTIM can still report to the central
monitoring station.
The CANASA award is the second honor earned by the Allegro
system this year. The Allegro also won the 2003 Security
Industry Association (SIA) New Product Showcase Product
Achievement Award for Intrusion Detection/Prevention.
