Beginning Aug. 1, business and homeowners here can now be fined for false alarms after the City Council recently passed a resolution establishing an alarm program and fee schedule for false alarm dispatches.
Prior to any fees being assessed, the city will conduct a marketing and public education outreach about the program, as well as issue warnings before instituting fines, according to the Glendale Star.
The new alarm program will require residential and business alarm owners to obtain a free permit from the police department. Subscribers who do not have a permit can be charged a $100 fine.
The false alarm burglary fee schedule: first false dispatch, free; second, $85; third, $150; fourth, $200; fifth, $250; sixth, $300; seventh and subsequent, $400.
False alarm fees for commercial panic or robbery are: first false dispatch, free; second, $125; third, $250; fourth and subsequent $400.
Revenue projection for the first year of the program is $275,000 and $266,500 annually, according to the newspaper.
