GSA Approves Sielox Pinnacle Access System and Controllers
SAN DIEGO
Sielox LLC announces that the firm’s Pinnacle access control system and associated controllers are now listed with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) as being compliant with the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 201.
“Working toward and receiving GSA’s FIPS 201 Evaluation Program Approved Product status has been one of our top priorities. Our investment in this initiative underscores Sielox’s commitment to our sales channel partners and system integrators as well as our government customers who must meet the upcoming compliance deadline of Oct. 27, 2006,” says Karen Evens, president and general manager of Sielox.
Under FIPS 201, all access credentials must contain one or more digital certificates to validate the status of the cardholder. This requirement covers the use of IT resources and other applications, such as digitally signed E-mails, smart card logons, and access to secure Web portals.
FIPS 201 outlines the requirements contained in the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12), which was issued by the White House in August 2004.
