ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The 2025 edition of the Global Security Exchange (GSX) attracted almost 15,000 registrants from 95 countries to the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, La., according to an ASIS International announcement.
GSX 2025 included more than 200 education sessions and more than 500 exhibiting companies, the announcement says.
“The security profession has evolved from being primarily operational to increasingly strategic with professionals now gaining more visibility in executive-level discussions and broader executive roles,” says ASIS International Joe Olivarez Jr. “Today’s security leaders don’t just respond to threats. We anticipate them and drive organizational resilience through them.”
What Were the Highlights of GSX 2025?
GSX 2025 was supplemented by a weekend of pre-conference events on Saturday and Sunday, including a full-day workshop titled Plan to Succeed: Integrating Protective Intelligence to Secure Physical, Cyber and Human Assets, ASIS Volunteers’ Day, the ASIS Awards of Excellence and the Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs), and Secure Horizons for senior security professionals.
ASIS also hosted pre-conference education including ASIS certification reviews and workshops on facility security design, Enterprise Security Risk Management (ESRM) and stakeholder communication.
The second day of GSX featured a speed-mentoring session that connected emerging security professionals with 40 experienced mentors from four continents and concluded with thousands of attendees at ASIS Celebrates at the National World War II Museum, where they looked at exhibits, in-person and multi-media performances.
The final day of GSX celebrated Military and Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (MLEAD). To honor those who serve and protect, ASIS began the day with a breakfast event celebrating the dedication of active duty and retired professionals from law enforcement, military service and emergency response fields.
Among the learning opportunities at GSX 2025, there were Game Changer sessions on resilience, trust and maintaining the highest level of security during times of crisis. Speed learning sessions on the exhibit show floor took place on the X Stage, the Resilience Zone and the School Security Zone.
At Career HQ, security professionals were offered resume reviews, access to the headshot studio and professional development sessions.
“Each year, ASIS refines GSX educational programming, demonstrating the fast-changing scope of our industry,” says Bill Tenney, chief executive officer of ASIS International, in the association announcement. “From the headlining keynotes to over 200 specialized education sessions, which included deep dives into our pioneering standards on executive protection and school security, the dynamic nature of our industry was on full display.
“As we look ahead to GSX 2026 in Atlanta (scheduled for Sept. 14-16, 2026), we’re excited about the opportunity to show our adaptability and the rising importance of security professionals to protect organizations and communities across the globe,” he says.
What Else Happened at the Event?
GSX 2025 offered attendees the opportunity to earn up to 22 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits.
The ASIS community raised nearly $35,000 for the ASIS Foundation through GSX 2025 and pre-event activities, including the Virtual Fitness Challenge, which had 120 participants from 21 countries, and the first-ever 5K Road Race.
These donations support career advancement through certification scholarships, research and member hardship grants. This year’s event also featured a blood drive in partnership with the Blood Center, collecting enough blood to save up to 170 lives.
According to New Orleans & Company, the official destination sales and marketing organization for New Orleans’ tourism industry, GSX 2025 generated an estimated $11 million in economic impact for the city.
