Guard Company Merges With Dallas Integrator

Published: August 31, 2005

HOUSTON — Safeguard Security Holdings Inc., known more for its security guard services, has entered the venue of security systems with its acquisition of Dallas-based integrator SYSTEMSGroup Inc. Terms were not released for the acquisition of SYSTEMSGroup, which has annual revenues of $7 million.

Houston-based Safeguard, which has no relation to Scottsdale, Ariz., alarm company Safeguard Security and Communications, is looking to create a new kind of security integration between security systems and security guards according to SYSTEMSGroup President and CEO Michael Lagow, who was also elected to Safeguard’s board.

“The bottom line is we’re merging all services into one offering,” says Lagow. As part of the deal, SYSTEMS Group will retain its current operations with the addition of a new subsidiary — SGI Protective Services, which will specialize in the convergence of physical security staffing with security technology services.

SYSTEMSGroup provides installation and integration of security systems for Fortune 100 clients and museums. Its installation at the Dallas Museum of Art was profiled in February’s “Industry Pulse.”
