HAI Joins USGBC to Expand Energy Management Offerings

NEW ORLEANS

Home Automation Inc. (HAI), a manufacturer of integrated automation and security products, has joined the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), a nonprofit industry group that promotes sustainable building practices and energy efficiency in new construction.

USGBC consists of 12,000 members, including building owners, real estate developers, facility managers, architects, designers, engineers, contractors, product and building system manufacturers, government agencies and nonprofits.

“Saving energy has been a core concern and objective for HAI since its inception in 1985,” says HAI President Jay McLellan. “Throughout the years we’ve participated in research with various government agencies for enhanced logic thermostats, ‘health’ monitoring for [HVAC] systems, the Zero Energy Homes project, and have worked with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Home Energy Monitoring and Building America programs to develop energy solutions for new and existing homes.”

HAI recently announced its Omnistat2, a programmable communicating thermostat that “learns” a home’s heating and cooling patterns and adjusts control to maximize both the HVAC system’s efficiency and the occupant’s comfort.

In addition, HAI will begin shipping three Load Control Modules (LCMs) to control power consumption of high wattage loads. HAI’s lighting control LCM, hardwired LCM and wireless LCM will begin shipping later this year.
