Hank Williams Jr. Burglarized After Leaving Alarm System Off
PARIS, Tenn.
Country music star Hank Williams Jr. learned the hard way that an alarm system is useless if it isn’t turned on. A burglar stole a safe with more than $500,000 worth of jewelry from Williams’ home while he and his kids were sleeping and the alarm system was left off. A suspect in the burglary has since been caught and arrested by police.
Authorities say that because the alarm system was left off, the burglar was able to walk right in to Williams’ Paris, Tenn., country retreat Jan. 19 and steal the safe without the sleeping Williams and his children knowing it.
The suspect’s mother turned in her son, which Williams’ longtime friend and manager, Merle Kilgore, said was a good thing.
“The real miracle is that Hank Junior didn’t shoot that kid,” Kilgore told the Associated Press. “Hank is an excellent shot, and surrounded by guns.”
