HID ACQUIRES RFID ACCESS CONTROL BUSINESS FROM MOTOROLA

IRVINE, Calif.

HID Corp, an Assa Abloy Group company, has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Motorola’s worldwide RFID access control business, known as Indala. The purchase of the San Jose, Calif.-based business is expected to be completed in the 4th quarter of this year. Joe Grillo, HID’s CEO, says, “Motorola’s RFID access control business is complementary to HID’s RFID business. HID is committed to providing its customers with the highest quality products and industry-leading customer service programs. We will be viewed as a company that is technically progressive and easy to do business with.” States Motorola Vice President and General Manager Jim Osborn, “Motorola determined that the long-term interests of the RFID business unit is best served by aligning it with a company having similar market objectives and focus. We are pleased that HID recognized the opportunity for synergy with their RFID business.”
