HID Global Acquires Integrated Engineering, Expands MIFARE Market Presence

Integrated Engineering (IE), developer and manufacturer of contactless (RFID) smart-card solutions, has been acquired by HID Global. IE will continue to operate as a separate business, with leadership in the Netherlands reporting to HID’s management structure at the highest levels.

According to HID, IE was an attractive acquisition due to its flexible platform for MIFARE-based readers. Committed to designing reader platforms to adapt to specific customer needs, IE will play a key part in HID’s strategic initiative to expand its position in the MIFARE (ISO 14443) market.

HID anticipates further investing in the distribution of the IE reader line and expanding into new markets with new and existing customers. Although there is no immediate plan to integrate HID and IE product lines, over time, new products will incorporate the stronger aspects of each.

IE customers will experience eventual expansion of regional sales and support, in addition to the entity’s existing core competency in engineering. Customers will also benefit from extensive engineering resources, worldwide distribution capability and the new channel-focused sales structure, programs, products and services.
