HID HAILS SALE OF 100 MILLIONTH CARD TO DIRECTV
ORLANDO, Fla.
HID Corp. announces the sale of its 100 millionth access control card to El Segundo, Calif.-based DIRECTV, the nation’s leading digital satellite television provider. The card, an ISOProx II, uses HID’s patented radio-frequency identification (RFID; better known as proximity in the security industry) and is one of thousands already in use throughout DIRECTV’s various facilities. The HID ISOProx card will be used in conjunction with HID’s RFID card readers mounted near doors throughout DIRECTV’s headquarters. More than 5,000 cards are currently in use at the El Segundo campus.
“HID has enjoyed exponential card sales growth since our first sale in 1995,” says Doug Wood, director of North American sales for HID. “Now, with the help of our OEM partners, dealer network and end users, we are setting our sights on the quarter billion mark.” HID provides the broadest range of access control, computer security and asset tracking products available. The company pioneered the development of RFID technology for security and smart card applications.
