The HCCWD484 wide dynamic camera by Honeywell Security of Louisville, Ky., is a high-resolution, full-body camera designed for environments where high contrast and changing light conditions can be a problem, such as financial institutions, casinos, government buildings and schools. The camera uses what Honeywell refers to as its next generation image capture technology, which is said to convert images from analog to digital within each pixel immediately after capture takes place.
Each pixel in the camera acts as its own camera, having an independent shutter speed that optimizes the exposure time for every picture detail. The result is correct color rendering and the ability to capture details of objects and faces even when the camera faces a window backlit by the sun. It is also good in outdoor applications where the image contrast is high.
