Honeywell has built up its presence in the residential security market by acquiring FutureSmart Systems Inc. of Draper, Utah. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

FutureSmart, which had been a subsidiary of LifeStyle Innovations Inc., provides digital communications and networking systems for homes, condominiums and apartments. “Networking and structured wiring are rapidly becoming essential features in new homes and are increasingly common add-ons in older homes,” said Ron Rothman, business leader of Honeywell Security Products, in a statement.  “Our integrated home strategy is a natural extension of Honeywell’s leadership in residential security and home comfort, and it will create exciting new opportunities for our dealers.”

Jacqueline E. Soechtig, CEO and president of FutureSmart, says becoming part of Honeywell will be a benefit for her company’s customers. “With Honeywell’s resources and technology behind FutureSmart, our existing customers, and a great many new customers will be able to realize the full potential of home networking,” she says.
