Honeywell Multi-Path IP/Cellular Fire Alarm Communicator

Published: December 14, 2010

Honeywell Power Products of Northford, Conn. introduces the IPGSM-COM, a UL-listed primary fire alarm communicator that provides contact ID reporting via IP or global system for mobile communications (GSM) cellular pathways.

The communicator utilizes the Honeywell AlarmNet network, a triple-path redundancy that provides connectivity for life safety systems. An IP path is used for primary communications and GPRS (general packet radio service) GSM cellular for back-up. Should GPRS be unavailable, the unit switches over to SMS (a.k.a. text message) communications. A 256-bit advanced encryption standard is used to secure data traveling through each pathway, according to the company.
