SYOSSET, N.Y. – Security Sales & Integration has learned that Honeywell Security will no longer distribute the IntelliSense brand of products through independent wholesale distribution. Honeywell says the move is part of a strategy in which its Ademco and IntelliSense brand names will be transitioned during the coming months in favor of the Honeywell Security name.
Honeywell said in a letter sent out to various independent dealers that there would no longer be a brand differentiation for IntelliSense that allowed for independent distribution. IntelliSense, formerly known as C&K Systems, has had a long history of being sold through independent distribution. Ademco has always been distributed through ADI, Honeywell’s distribution arm.
Honeywell’s letter has aggravated some loyal independent IntelliSense distributors. “Honeywell taking products away denies us continued access to the marketplace,” says Bob VanDillen, president of St. Louis’ Security Equipment Supply Inc. (SES). “They take a segment of the market away from us … a segment we’ve spent our time marketing to the dealers. We’re making our own strategy to deal with this.”
The letter states independent distributors have until March 16 to fulfill any remaining IntelliSense product orders. It also thanks the independent distributors for all they have contributed to the brand’s success.
