Published: July 4, 2005

Honeywell has sold one of its European fire alarm systems businesses to fulfill a commitment to European regulators after its purchase of Novar plc and its Intelligent Building Systems (IBS) unit. Honeywell Int’l Inc. announced it sold ESSER Italia to French company DEF for undisclosed financial terms.

Honeywell was obligated to sell the business as a condition by the European Commission of its recent purchase of Novar.

As part of the transaction, Honeywell will continue to sell ESSER-brand products outside of Italy and will continue to operate ESSER’s non-fire businesses in Italy, including its building management systems and Brand-Rex cabling systems.
