HONEYWELL TO MARKET VISIONICS FACIAL-RECOGNITION SYSTEMS

Published: February 21, 2002

Honeywell and Visionics announce an alliance whereby Honeywell will market biometric manufacturer Visionics’ facial-recognition systems. Honeywell’s distribution network will be used to give Visionics greater market penetration.

The terms of the deal will permit Honeywell to use Visionics’ biometric network appliance platform, which includes facial-recognition technology, in its building security systems. The technology will be incorporated into Honeywell’s enterprise buildings integrator, technology that integrates security, life safety, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.

News of the alliance sent Visionics shares upward. Honeywell shares also climbed following the announcement.

Greg Taylor, security solutions market manager for Honeywell’s automation and control solutions service businesses, says, “This offering also enhances our product portfolio to support Honeywell’s aviation security efforts and our ability to deliver advanced turnkey security solutions to customers around the world.”
