Security systems installer HSM Electronic Protections Services Inc. has hundreds of new customers in the Dallas area after announcing it has acquired Central Alarm Systems Inc. Included in the purchase of the 66-year-old alarm firm are more than 400 residential and commercial accounts in Dallas and east Texas. The purchase price of the transaction has not been disclosed.

Central Alarm Services began in 1940 just before World War II with the purpose of designing and installing security systems for military bases in the southwest. Post-war, its operations expanded to commercial, residential, government and industrial installations.

The purchase will mark the retirement of Central Alarm’s president, Jim Smith.

“When I decided to retire from the alarm service and security systems business, I had three important goals. They included ensuring that my subscribers would have ongoing, high quality service, continued employment for my staff, and finding a buyer for my company with undisputed honesty and integrity,” said Smith in a statement released by HSM. “I was fortunate to find an organization that met all of these goals.”

It’s the second time in the past five months that HSM has purchased an alarm company with a long history of service. In October, HSM purchased Denver’s Jackson Alarm, whose founder’s family history went back to 1915 in the alarm industry.
