Icontrol One Names Interlogix Simon as 1st Security, Home Automation Hardware Partner
Icontrol One, the new SHaaS (smart home as a service) offering for independent security and home automation dealers, now has its first hardware partner: Interlogix Simon XT/XTi.

Interlogix Simon XT and XTi panels will now support Icontrol One, the new SHaaS (smart home as a service) platform for independent security and home automation dealers, via an external Novatel Wireless MiFi Secure SA 1100 module that includes a 3G cellular radio, Z-Wave and Wi-Fi.
Icontrol Networks, the company that powers interactive security and home automation systems from ADT (Pulse), Comcast (Xfinity Home) and other large service providers, has announced progress with its new Icontrol One platform for independent dealers.
The SHaaS (smart home as a service) solution now supports the popular Interlogix Simon XT/XTi line of security panels – the first set of panels supported by Icontrol One.
When Icontrol announced the new service in March, the company only hinted at hardware partners. The Website at the time listed Nortek’s 2Gig (GoControl), Interlogix (Simon XT, XTi) and DSC (PowerSeries). 2Gig and DSC already are partners through Icontrol’s channel partner Telguard, but evidently have yet to be incorporated into Icontrol One.
Icontrol One includes a hardware component, the Novatel Wireless MiFi Secure SA 1100 radio module, which upgrades legacy alarm panels from 2G to 3G, and adds Wi-Fi and Z-Wave radios to boot.
As of June 2015, more than 485,000 Simon XT/XTi security panels installed with 2G radios will need to be upgraded to 3G, according to Icontrol.
Interlogix already is a partner of Icontrol competitor Alarm.com (Nasdaq: ALRM), which provides on-board cellular/Z-Wave radios for the security provider.
The giant security-dealer program Monitronics will now embrace both SHaaS platforms.
