Identix Expands Its Biometrics Hold, Retains Government Contract
MINNETONKA, Minn.
Identix says it is expanding its hold on the biometrics market with the acquisition of Delean Vision Worldwide. Under the deal, the company acquires all of Delean Vision’s assets, technology and intellectual property, including its patents, whether pending and otherwise established.
The acquirement expands Identix’s technologies to include finger, facial and skin recognition, as well as Surface Texture Analysis, a new type of pattern recognition algorithm.
Adding to Identix’s prospects, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reaffirmed its decision to award the company a five-year blanket purchase agreement (BPA) for 10-print scan fingerprint booking stations and desktop systems, Identix said.
In October 2003, a contender in the competitive bid process lodged a complaint against Identix. In response, the DHS reevaluated all proposals.
