Image Sensing Provider Kampro Joins GE Interlogix


GE Industrial Systems has agreed to acquire substantially all of the assets of a Taiwan-based privately held company for its image sensing technologies to be included in GE’s security product offerings.

The company, Kampro Inc. of Taipei, is a developer and maker of high-performance image sensing technologies for all types of applications. Its product portfolio includes a range of high-performance image sensing products that feature ultra-low light, ultra-high sensitive, high-resolution, harsh-environment technologies in monochrome and color.

Under the deal, Kampro will have access to advanced technologies that will enable the company to develop some of the widest in the world that are able to display details in ultra-low and very bright light conditions. The company will become a subsidiary of GE Int’l Inc. and will report to GE Interlogix. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“GE and Kampro are not new to each other; GE Interlogix is a long-time buyer of Kampro image sensing products,” said Ken Boyda, president and CEO of GE Interlogix. “As part of GE, Kampro will be developing technologies that filter an incredibly wide variety of light conditions and can see tremendous details across one of the widest dynamic ranges in the world.” Boyda added that the quality history of GE’s relationship with Kampro was a major factor in its decision to acquire the company’s assets. “GE will now have one of the widest offerings of image sensing technology in the industry.”

The purchase came a week after GE Interlogix acquired Monitoring Automation Systems (MAS), a provider of automation software for central security station monitoring and secure business communications.
