Imagis Technologies Inc. , a developer and marketer of facial-recognition biometric software, has issued a statement in support of the Enhanced Border Security and Visa Reform Act. The act was approved by unanimous vote of the Senate this past week.

“Facial-recognition biometrics is the next generation of airport and border security, and with the passing of this bill, the national air travel industry is taking a significant step,” says Iain Drummond, president and CEO of Imagis Technologies. He goes on to say, “By incorporating biometric data into required travel documents, the safety of passengers worldwide is greatly enhanced, and there is no sense of intrusion during travel. A number of local, national and international law enforcement agencies already employ Imagis’ ID-2000 facial technology and this statement of support from the government is a proactive step in ensuring improved airport safety.”
