WARRENDALE, Pa — Security industry professionals are mourning the loss of David Merrick, marketing director for Vector Security.

Since his entrance into the electronic security industry in 1979, Merrick held various sales and marketing management positions. His first job was with Automatic Detection Systems before working at Triple A Protection, a regional supplier of residential and commercial electronic security and uniformed guard services.

Merrick joined Vector Security in 1999 in the role of director of marketing for the company’s national accounts division. An active member in the electronic security industry, Merrick served as a board member of the Pennsylvania Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (PBFAA), and earned the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association’s (NBFAA) President’s Award in 2002. He also wrote NBFAA’s (now the Electronic Security Association) Reassuring America Program, public relations campaign launched in the wake of Sept. 11, aimed at consumers, informing them of what the electronic security industry can do to secure homes and businesses.

An author of a variety of sales and marketing-related articles in a number of industry magazines, Merrick’s efforts also helped Vector Security win numerous SAMMY awards.
