In-Wall Pulling Tool Uses Magnets to Guide Wire, Leader

Published: October 31, 2007

BES Manufacturing of Deposit, N.Y., recently released the Wire Python, an in-wall wire-pulling tool. The unit consists of a handheld paddle with magnet, and a flexible leader with magnet. The flexible leader is attached to a wire or pull-string and inserted into a wall cavity. The hand unit is then used on the outside of the wall to attract the leader.

Once contact is made, an installer can drag the hand unit down the wall surface to an opening through which the wire and leader emerge. The paddle contains wheels to avoid marking the wall surface. The Wire Python also works well in fiberglass insulation.
