Ingersoll-Rand Co. announces that Recognition Systems Inc. (RSI), a unit of IR’s Security & Safety Solutions business, will expand its operations in the growing Middle East market through a cooperative effort with the Lebanese government. RSI’s biometric solutions play a key role in the Lebanese government’s initiatives in comprehensive security, time management and employee attendance and productivity.

RSI’s patented biometric HandReaders are being used to monitor and provide access for more than 7,000 government employees working at the Lebanese Presidential Palace as well as the Education, Justice and Information Ministries. RSI’s HandReaders use the hand as an identification card, measuring finger length, width, thickness and surface area. The information is then compared to data stored either on an employee’s identification card or in the system’s memory, controlling access to buildings and tracking employee attendance.

Ingersoll-Rand is a global provider of solutions for the markets of security and safety, climate control, industrial productivity and infrastructure.
