Much of the assets of home electronics distributor AVAD have been acquired by technology supplier Ingram Micro, creating an all-encompassing home technology integration solutions provider for custom installers in the United States. In the transaction, scheduled to be completed this month, Ingram Micro will pay $120 million upfront with earn-out payments of up to $80 million over the next three years for the AVAD assets.
AVAD distributes many home automation systems, including products by On-Q Home, Middle Atlantic Products and Belden.
“This acquisition accelerates our consumer electronics initiative and provides another key platform for growth,” said Greg Spierkel, CEO of Ingram Micro. “We view this as an opportunity to further differentiate Ingram Micro and enter a profitable and growing new market.”
