Ingram Micro Unveils New Physical Security Division

Ingram Micro Inc. has created a new physical security division in an effort to become a single-source provider of electronic secuirty products for value-added resellers and managed service providers.

Led by Tom Burns, director, Ingram Micro North America, the physical security group will offer solutions in alarm and fire, monitoring services, access control and video surveillance to channel partners in the United States and Canada.

Headquartered in Santa Ana, Calif., the new division will handle products from several IT manufacturers with physical security portfolios, including Cisco Systems, Axis Communications, Sony, Panasonic and others. Channel partners will also be offered specialized product and solutions training, pre- and post-sales support, configuration and integration services, and marketing resources.

“We’ve been watching the growing convergence of IT security and physical security and have established this division in anticipation of their eventual synthesis,” says Keith Bradley, president, Ingram Micro North America. “The launch of this security division is another example of our continuing efforts to expand our reach and bring value and focus to new and adjacent markets.”

In September, Ingram Micro’s subsidiary AVAD LLC, a Van Nuys, Calif.-based distributor of custom electronics, signed a distribution aggreement with Digital Security Controls (DSC), along with offering dealers access to alarm monitoring through an agreement with C.O.P.S. Monitoring.
