Installer’s Contract Expands for Dallas-Fort Worth Airport

SecureNet of Carrollton, Texas, is having its contract to
install video surveillance at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport
expanded.

The $7 million contract signed in October to install a
digital camera system to guard against security breaches in
terminals is being expanded to include the runways and
airfield as well according to the Fort Worth
Star-Telegram
. That will add $1.2 million to the
contract.

Airport officials say the sudden expansion of the camera
system wasn’t provoked by an incident or terror warning,
just part of the continuing effort to protect the
airport. “From a security perspective, I think this is very
important,” Alvy Dodson, the airport’s vice president of
public safety, says.

A dozen cameras covering Dallas-Fort Worth’s sky bridge,
pedestrian walkways and Founders Plaza will be added to the
250 cameras purchased by the airport in October.
