Integrator Gets Into Iris-Recognition Sales

EDINA, Minn.

Alpha Video and Audio Inc. of Edina, Minn., has started sales, installation and service of the Panasonic MB-ET300 and MB-ET500 series of iris-recognition access-control systems.

The camera employs an iris-recognition technology for applications including offices, financial institutions, airport facilities and traffic-control centers. Steve Dunker, security consultant at Alpha Video, says that unlike other forms of biometrics, iris-recognition products do not require any contact or invasive procedures for identification.

“Unlike previous systems, there is no need to hold the body in a certain way or the eyes in a certain fixed position, as pattern matching and identification takes just a few seconds,” Dunker says.
