A Newport, R.I., integrator has upgraded the video surveillance systems of several federal buildings in New York as part of the security measures surrounding the 2004 Republican National Convention. LiveWave Inc. was selected by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Federal Protective Service to upgrade the CCTV systems.
Using the FPS’ existing CCTV cameras at the buildings, LiveWave networked the cameras using its FirstView® IP-based system, which is capable of networking thousands of cameras. “‘FirstView acts as an effective force multiplier allowing the FPS security team to remotely access and control their current CCTV systems from anywhere,” LiveWave CEO Peter Mottur said in a prepared statement.
Several local and federal law enforcement agencies are able to securely access the network during the course of the convention.
LiveWave’s FirstView was also used in Boston for the recent Democratic National Convention.
