Integrator Adesta LLC was selected by the Maryland Port Administration to install video surveillance and perimeter security at the Port of Baltimore. The contract, worth $5.5 million, comes with a fall of 2006 completion date.

According to Adesta, the system will include a communications and electronic security network that will provide full perimeter security. The network also will carry video data with video analytics technology by VistaScape Security Systems.

The video portion of the system features real-time detection. Thermal and low-light cameras enable security personnel to better monitor perimeter fences, terminals, gates, and piers. The objective is to enable quick response when suspicious activity is detected.
