Electronic security systems company Controlled Access LLC
has been awarded a contract to provide an integrated system
that includes security for California State Route 125, a
major new toll road project in San Diego. The company will
work with TranS Group, a toll systems provider, to equip
the state project with access control and video solutions
for the 9.5-mile toll road’s operations center, as well as
for the plazas, booths and cash machines located at key
interchanges.
“A number of different systems are being deployed. From a
tolling system, to a traffic management system to a
security system and all have to work hand in hand,” Casey
Guagenti, general manager of Controlled Access, told
Security Sales & Integration. “We try to stay vendor
neutral and try to marry what makes the best solution and
integration between systems.”
The digital video surveillance system will allow the toll
road’s operations staff to monitor toll plaza and ramp
activity in real-time as well as provide for digital
storage of images. Controlled Access is also providing an
access control system utilizing proximity cards to control
entry to sensitive areas. The access control database will
be integrated with the toll system database to provide
single-point badge creation.
