InterPort Police to Host 40th Delegate Meeting & Forum During ISC Solutions
NEW YORK — As a part of Security Week, the 40th Delegate Meeting & InterPort Police International Security Forum will be co-located with ISC Solutions. Developed by the Security Industry Association (SIA), Security Week combines multiple industry events held Nov. 1-3 in New York City.
This year’s forum will take place Oct. 31 to Nov. 4 and will work in conjunction with ISC Solutions, held Nov. 2-3 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
“The inclusion of the InterPort Police Forum events during Security Week brings another valuable element to the ISC Solutions program,” says Ed Several, senior vice president and general manager, ISC Events.
During the forum, international law enforcers, public safety and security professionals can share best practice tips with one other, InterPort Police Secretary General Jay Grant says.
“The forum provides a platform for interaction among [those] who have jurisdiction or oversight responsibilities for an airport, seaport or transportation system,” he says. “Attendees will learn from their professional peers about issues such as international cooperation, technology solutions and information sharing.”
InterPort Police President Ronald Boyd will also discuss policing and public safety issues affecting transportation security, including passenger protection, the supply chain and critical infrastructure. The program will conclude with a series of roundtable discussions.
Several United Nations (UN) organizations will also present during the delegate meeting, including the Int’l Maritime Organization (IMO).
“Our association holds consultative status with the IMO,” Boyd says. “We currently are working on the piracy issues to include on scene crime investigations and armed guards solutions.”
Additionally, the Int’l Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Office of Drug and Crime (UNDOC) will present during the program.
“New York is the perfect venue to highlight the complex requirements in protecting the international transportation security community,” Several says. “This will only deepen their relationships and provide enhanced capabilities and resources for the greater good.”
InterPort Police will also host the fifth annual Fred V. Morrone 9/11 Memorial Award presentation during the Security Week Dinner on Nov. 2 at Chelsea Pier 61. Named in honor of incoming InterPort Police President Fred Morrone, the 9/11 Award remembers all first responders who died on Sept. 11. Morrone, who served as the superintendent of police and director of public safety for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and 36 other port authority officers died during the collapse of the World Trade Center towers.
