KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A Tennessee-based Subway restaurant has deployed a new security system that sprays synthetic DNA on intruders.
The Knoxville, Tenn.-based franchise has implemented the Intruder Security System, which is produced by company SelectDNA, Eater.com reports.
A device is placed above the door of the restaurant. If someone breaks into the store, he or she will trigger the device, prompting the mechanism to release a spray of traceable DNA onto the intruder.
“It’s another tool in our tool bag to help fight crime, especially violent crime, which is what a robbery is,” Knoxville Police Department Deputy Chief Gary Holliday told WATE.com.
