IQ Certification Elects New Board of Directors Chair

Published: January 27, 2014

ERIE, Pa. — The Installation Quality (IQ) Certification program elected Lynn Comer as chairperson of the organization’s 2014 board of directors during its annual membership meeting.

In her new role Comer, president Shenandoah Valley Security (SVS), replaces Tim Creenan, who will continue to serve the IQ Program as past chair. Prior to her appointment as chairperson, Comer served as vice chair of the IQ board. She also serves as president of the Virginia chapter of the Electronic Security Association (ESA) and as chairperson of the government relations committee for ESA.

“To follow Tim Creenan in the role of chair for the IQ Certification Program, is humbling to say the least,” Comer says. “The quality which the program strives for was reflected in Tim’s leadership of our board and its work product.”

Following are the newly elected directors:

  • Chair: Lynn Comer of Shenandoah Valley Security
  • Vice Chair: Dave Currie Damar of Security Systems and the Security Response Center
  • Secretary: Amanda Baumgartner of Rapid Response Monitoring
  • Treasurer: Peggy Anderson of the Delaware State Police
  • Past Chair: Tim Creenan of Amherst Alarm
  • Darryl Parker of CPI Security Systems
  • Don Childers of Security Central

Additionally, Anderson, as well as Steve Heggeman of the Baltimore County Alarm Reduction Team and Rob Brisley, public information officer in the Office of Media & Public Affairs for the Charlotte Fire Department will serve one-year terms as public safety directors.

Comer believes the IQ program will accomplish many goals this year to help the electronic security industry, especially with such a diverse board of directors.

“Having worked with this talented and diverse board for several years now, I am excited to see what we will achieve in the future,” she says. “With the influx of so many non-traditional companies entering the security industry, the I.Q. Program offers one of the best practice and marketing differentiators. Being IQ certified is an outward sign of a company’s internal commitment to providing quality service and product. This effort results in an enhanced consumer experience and reduces the community resource impact of false alarms.”

The IQ Certification Board sets standards and guidelines for alarm dealers to demonstrate they are working to reduce false alarm dispatches.
