IR Illuminator Creates a Narrow, Well-Defined Illumination Pattern

Published: August 31, 2005

The new ZX700 Infrared Illuminator by Extreme CCTV of Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, is an active night-vision device with a new mission for homeland security within the United States. The ZX700, which requires relatively low operating power, uses what Extreme calls “Gold Optics” as well as special filters to produce a highly focused cylindrical beam of light engineered to penetrate long distances.

A dual system achieves 3,281 feet of high-resolution night vision when used with Extreme’s approved IR-sensitive cameras and lenses. The ZX700 has been integrated with radar systems for “seek-and-define” proactive security.
