WASHINGTON – Foot traffic jams were not a problem at the Oct. 1 to 3 National Summit on Security, formerly known as the ISC East Expo.
Whether it was the move from past ISC East events in New York and Orlando, Fla., to Washington or the shift in focus to national security, this year’s event had a 10-percent drop in attendance compared to the year before. There were 3,518 attendees in Washington compared to the 3,932 who turned the turnstiles at ISC East 2002 in Orlando.
“This was definitely one of the slowest shows I’ve seen in quite a few years,” says Security Sales & Integration (SSI) Publisher Michael Zawinski, who attended the show, received at least 50 visitors to the SSI booth and hosted a well-attended panel discussion on government contracting.
Besides the 403 vendors, attendees also got access to officials with the FBI, Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies.
The event will reclaim its ISC East name and return to New York City – from Nov. 2 to 4 – in 2004.
