ISC West 2022 Recap: Insights, Pics and Videos

Rob Aarnes, president of ADI Global Distribution, spoke to the overall resiliency of the security industry and in particular to ADI’s ability to react nimbly during the worst of the economic morass caused by the pandemic. When the economy began to shut down, Aarnes said ADI “took the opposite approach” of some competing distributors and doubled down on purchasing additional stock to ensure its branch location shelves were replete with products.

The company bolstered its e-commerce capabilities and maneuvered to accommodate curbside pick-up and other means to streamline dealer purchasing. The mass loss of business that some security industry experts feared never materialized and ADI was able to fulfill their dealer partner needs. While acknowledging the supply chain remains challenging, Aarnes explained the company leveraged its connections with component suppliers during 2021 to help mitigate shortages in mainly video product categories.

Helping a video camera or recorder manufacturer obtain parts has led to finished products being diverted to ADI, he said. Remaining focused and agile helped ADI post record revenue of $3.4 billion in 2021, up 15% compared to the year prior.

Moving forward look for ADI to focus on accelerating its digital initiatives and continued expansion into adjacent A/V and data communications categories, Aarnes said.
