Johnson Controls Securing Southern California’s Water

MILWAUKEE

Johnson Controls Inc. will provide security and monitoring
for the body that provides drinking water to most of
Southern California. In a contract valued at $9.5
million, Johnson Controls will help create a security
solution for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern
California.

The water district is a cooperative of 26 public agencies
that supplies and transports water to nearly 18 million
people in parts of Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego,
Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties.

Johnson Controls will work with the district and TRC-
Security Consulting to design the security solution for
more than 60 sites.

An access control system with several
hundred readers and cameras, digital closed-circuit
television (CCTV) recorders and wireless CCTV will be
installed to help monitor the sites. The contract includes
a five-year service agreement to ensure continued upkeep.
