MILWAUKEE — Johnson Controls, a manufacturer of smart building systems, has augmented the capabilities of its ES Net Life Safety Network.
The company says that its updates simplify how emergency audio and firefighter telephone communications are distributed throughout buildings and campuses.
Johnson Controls says the IP-based network enable in-building emergency alerts that include alarms and voice evacuation messaging for building occupants and in-building, firefighter-to-firefighter telephone communications to be sent digitally over the Life Safety data network.
“The updated ES Net Life Safety Network is ideal for facility owners and operators looking for a faster, more flexible platform that meets the latest industry codes and boosts emergency response effectiveness,” comments Tony Gryscavage, PE, director, product management, Johnson Controls.
“This enhancement makes buildings safer and smarter by helping occupants evacuate more quickly. With this unified way of broadcasting specific voice instructions and alarm tones, building operators can be sure they are prepared for any type of emergency.”
The newly enhanced ES Net Life Safety Network solution from Johnson Controls is also capable of handling codes such as Life Safety 101 and NFPPA 72, which the company points will begin to show up as voice evacuation messaging become more prominent.
According to the Midwestern-based manufacturer, a singular, shared pathway for in-building messaging and firefighter communications streamlines wiring processes and it can “substantially reduce” hardware and maintenance costs.
Johnson Controls adds the ES Net Life Safety Network also provides advanced supervision and diagnostics to reduce the time it takes to troubleshoot systems.
Moreover, the company stresses, the system updates complement its other fire detection products.
