| Q: | I have a residential customer who has trouble shunting zones in here alarm system when she opens the windows in her bedroom. What can I offer as a good alternative? |
| A: | A couple things come to mind. Assuming these are double hung type window you could reinstall the alarm contact about six inches higher on the window frame and mount two magnets. To reduce false alarms make sure to clearly show alignment marks on the frame or better yet put a removable physical stop on top open window vent position.
Another good choice is using a specially designed vent switch such as the “VS” series switch from George Risk Inc. This will give you a closed gap during the 6” vent swing in the window. |
