A jury of seven women and five men was scheduled to begin
deliberations this week in the trial of Stuart Alexander,
the self-proclaimed “sausage king,” videotaped himself on
the company’s CCTV system shooting and killing three meat
inspectors in his sausage
plant four years ago.
According to SanLuisObispo.com and prosecutors, Alexander turned on his video surveillance camera in order to make sure that the incident was caught on tape. He shot and killed two men and one woman, and chased a fourth inspector for several blocks from his factory in San Leandro. The surviving inspector testified during the trial.
Prosecutors told jurors that Alexander provided the best evidence against himself with his own “snuff film.” Defense lawyers tried to convince jurors that Alexander snapped under the pressure of harassment by state and federal meat inspectors. Experts testified for the defense that Alexander has an abnormally small brain due to damage from a car accident and boxing.
