WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Kaba Group announced today it has acquired e-Data, which specializes in Web-based appliance solutions that combine physical access control and time collection. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
With its U.S. headquarters in Dallas, e-Data products include an integrated fingerprint biometrics module that is FIPS 201 compliant, complementing Kaba’s existing E-Plex products.
The combination of the two companies will provide a portfolio of solutions across many vertical markets, including retail, health care, banking and government.

Based in Winston-Salem, N.C., Kaba plans to continue e-DATA product development and use Kaba technologies and products to further enhance customer-centric solutions, according to the company.
As part of the Kaba Group, e-DATA will expand its operations, e-DATA president/CTO John Carter said. In the Dallas area, e-DATA’s headquarters will relocate to Frisco, Texas.
