Interlogix Inc.‘s Kalatel business unit has been awarded a contract of up to $2.5 million by the New Orleans Regional Transportation Agency (RTA) to provide up to 400 buses and 45 trolley cars with digital video surveillance system. Under this agreement, Kalatel, based in Corvallis, Ore., will provide up to 445 MobileView II DVR units for RTA vehicles to enhance safety and comfort for passengers.
To date, Kalatel has shipped $500,000 of its MobileView II product to the New Orleans RTA under the existing order. Kalatel’s MobileView II is a DVR system designed for transit applications (buses, fixed and light rail, taxis and delivery vehicles), to record on-board events and save them for later review.
At the New Orleans RTA, the MobileView II units will also be retrofitted to para-transit, mini-vehicles and some school buses, as well as commuter buses and trolley cars. Under the terms of the contract, Kalatel will provide a four-camera system per bus. “By showcasing a safer riding experience, this system should help increase passenger volumes and RTA revenues,” says Brian McCarthy, CEO Americas Group of Interlogix.
Kalatel manufactures a range of CCTV and digital video storage equipment for security and safety applications. Interlogix is a provider of communication technologies and information for security, safety, and lifestyle enhancements.
