KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Free home security systems are being given to the families of first responders here as a show of gratitude for their service.

State Farm Insurance and a home security provider donated the security systems, reports Fox 4 KC. And for the families, the nice gesture means a lot, especially considering the recent tragedies involving the deaths of police officers.

“It’s very disturbing,” says Andrea Phillips, a wife of a Kansas City police officer, about the current tensions between citizens and police officers. “It’s very upsetting. It’s hard for me to know that he has to go and deal with this. That people don’t respect them like they should.”

Hopefully the security systems will provide some peace of mind for these families that their homes are being taken care of.
